Basic Metabolic Panel test reagents (BMP)
Basic Metabolic Panel (BMP)
The basic metabolic panel or BMP is a series of eight common tests preformed, that helps to monitor and diagnose the patient’s current kidney health, blood sugar, and electrolyte levels, and the patient’s acid/base levels. We offer all of the reagents necessary to running this panel which includes:
- Creatinine (Jaffe)
- Glucose Hexokinase
- Carbon Dioxide
- Calcium
- Blood Urea Nitrogen
- Sodium*
- Potassium*
- Chloride*
*These are electrolyte reagents run by the analyzers ISE’s using electrolyte reagents, this method is performed in one step producing three data points as opposed to running the three tests separately. This is the method used and preferred by ourselves and many labs as it yields the same results much more quickly and efficiently allowing for an easy area to cut costs of operations. If your lab currently runs an instrument without ISE’s and preforms these tests it may be beneficial to give us a call and discuss options for upgrading your instrumentation or if your instrument has ISE’s but you are not utilizing them to discuss our ability to set them up for use.
